Best Western White Mountain Inn

The TV was on some strange setting, but they came and fixed it. That was about the only bit of follow-up, though. We stayed several days and never got fresh towels or a room cleaning, and the beds weren't made. The place was clean enough, people were friendly enough, and breakfast was, well, enough, I guess. Keep expectations low and you can enjoy yourself and write your own three-star review.

Our family's stay at the Best Western Inn in Franconia, NH was a nightmare, the worst hotel experience we've had. Within hours we were moved from one filthy, unsafe room to another that was even worse. There was mold and broken fixtures, some hotel doors had no locks, and the bedding on all the beds was stained with blood. We were told it might have come from drug users who frequent the property. Staff acknowledged that the rooms weren't fit, but said cleaning service wasn't available and provided no clean linens. My wife and I were expected to strip and remake the blood-contaminated beds ourselves, while our children slept in their personal blankets on chairs because it was so late. Things then escalated into harassment and dishonesty, ending with a police visit based on claims by staff member Kevin Jam that we say were false. Management, Bija Patel/Vin Patel, learned about Jam's harassment, mishandling, and misrepresentation to law enforcement, which he had been warned about. They misrepresented their own role and said they could do nothing beyond giving us a 10% discount because our family had been “publicly humiliated in the hallway late at night.” After leaving, we contacted Best Western Corporate. They told us that although the property uses the Best Western name, they don't recognize an affiliation. We were told the same thing when we tried to get a refund through Best Western. This place showed serious health-code violations, reckless staff behavior, and no regard for guest safety or basic decency. Avoid it at all costs.

We enjoyed our three-night family stay, and Bretton Woods was less than half an hour away. I'd read some of the negative reviews beforehand and had concerns, but we were pleased with how it went. The pool, though, was too cold.

We stayed here after visiting the ice castles because my wife had booked it for the pool and on someone's recommendation. I wouldn't recommend it. We found three cockroaches during the stay, including the two in the pictures with their metadata showing when and where they were taken. We had our kids with us, and it was disgusting. When I told the front desk, the man just photographed the pictures on my phone and handed me my receipt. He didn't ask anything or try to make it right. We found the bugs in the morning, unfortunately. I'll also report it to the town or local health board. We tried the pool, but condensation had left the entrance so wet it was unbelievable. Moisture covered the walls and ceiling, and it felt like it was raining on us. I didn't trust the pool water either, given the condition they let the rest of the building get into. I won't be back.
