Baymont Inn and Suites by Wyndham Franklin, Indiana

My kids and I got sick here, and I think the mold in this place needs to be investigated. The staff didn’t seem to understand the problem and didn’t compensate us for what we went through. There were dirt stains across the floor and little black spots all over the bed, so we didn’t spend the night in the room and slept in our car for the rest of our stay. I wouldn’t recommend it. Zero out of ten, and the health department should get involved.

Robin at the front desk made everything easy for me when I had an unusual situation. The staff were understanding, friendly, and helpful, and that’s what will bring me back. The rooms are clean, the pool is open and clean, and the location is convenient. Prices are reasonable too. If I’m in the area again, I’ll choose this place over the nearby competition. Thanks for that kind of service!

This is among the five worst hotels I’ve stayed in. The whole place, including the rooms marked non-smoking, smelled like weed, and the price was too high. The Wi-Fi was terrible. I asked over and over for it to be fixed and got the same “mine works fine” excuse. They also don’t service the room unless you ask every day. The indoor pool was closed. I can’t recommend it.

The eggs were the one good thing, so kudos to the chef. Everything else about our stay was upsetting. I’d hoped my four-year-old and I could have a fun girls’ night, but I spent the evening stopping her from touching things and explaining why. She cried because she wanted to play, and I ended up crying too. I wish we could get our money back. We arrived too late to find another place, and with snow and ice outside, I wasn’t going to make my child sleep in the car. Instead, we had to deal with two very dirty rooms. In the first, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed and had crumbs everywhere. The pullout couch had sheets left by the previous guests and even a half-eaten cracker. There were mysterious white stains all over, and I kept warning my child not to touch anything. We moved a few doors down. The floor there was cleaner, but still had crumbs. Someone else’s leftover food in the refrigerator smelled awful throughout our stay, and it looked as though it had been there a long time. Under the nightstand I spotted a water bottle cap and a beet bottle cap. A newspaper was sticking out behind the headboard near the sheets, and a Taco Bell coupon on the floor was dated 12/31 of the previous year. There were more of those mysterious white stains, including on the Bible in the nightstand. We were overcharged, too. I was very distraught, but couldn’t bring myself to complain at the desk. I’m afraid of making people angry, and I used to work in customer service, so I know it’s no fun when an upset customer complains. The place looked cute when I walked in, and the beautiful woodwork gives the hotel potential. But it was a letdown. Baymont, please do better. I’d suggest renovating and replacing the cleaning staff.
