Fairfield Inn & Suites Gainesville

I paid for my weekend stay through Booking.com, but after the hotel charged Booking.com incorrectly, they made me pay twice for their mistake. I showed proof the room was already paid for, yet they wouldn’t give me the room I’d booked. I was left in the lobby for almost two hours trying to sort it out myself. The front desk agent was rude and offered no help. I’m extremely upset with how they treated me. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.

I slept really well here. The room was clean and mostly well kept, the bed was comfortable, outside noise was tolerable, and check-in was ordinary. The hotel was fine, much like other Fairfield Inns. Breakfast was standard Marriott continental fare, with nothing special but nothing off-putting. There are lots of restaurants nearby, a few within walking distance and more a short drive or ride away. One neighbor was talking loudly on the phone just as I was about to go to bed, and I could follow the conversation as if I were part of it. I’m not sure whether the walls are especially thin or he was especially loud. After I called to complain, the front desk called his room right away and he quieted down. The sidewalks around town aren’t great, so plan your route first if you’re going for a run.

The staff make this hotel my favorite part of work trips. I’m here often for nine nights at a time, and everyone I’ve dealt with has been great. Trina at the front desk is amazing, and I haven’t found another hotel across all my travels to many states with customer service this good. The gentleman who handles breakfast keeps the food fresh and the area clean, and he’s friendly and ready to help. Housekeeping is spot on too. I always come back to a clean room and fresh towels, and they’ve never missed me. The rooms are clean, the hotel is quiet, and I appreciate everyone who makes my stays so good.

We booked with points but left a day early after I found cockroaches while showering. When we asked for room service, it never came, and the front desk didn’t seem to care.
