Hyatt Place Gainesville Downtown

The hotel feels like an art gallery when you walk in, with a real Gainesville style to it. I had a great stay. They sent parking information early and often before check-in, so I knew what to expect. Service was top-notch, the food tasted good, and my room had no outside noise. I can’t wait to come back to Gainesville and stay again.

The room wasn’t serviced during our two-night stay, and I had to ask for fresh towels. There wasn’t even a bottle of water in the room. The bathroom had two conditioners and no shampoo, so I washed my hair without it. I set the thermostat to 78°F, but the heat didn’t work because the hotel was too cold. Getting in was slow too. I’d reserved an 11 PM to midnight check-in slot, but arrived at midnight in the cold and pressed the entrance bell three times before they opened the gate. Parking cost $38 for two nights: $30 the first day, then I found a cheaper lot farther away and paid $8 the next day. The club’s amplifiers vibrated through the walls, with loud music and singing from the club and street, as others have mentioned. Even driving there at midnight was difficult with over 100 young people around. I wish I’d read the Google reviews. Don’t stay here.

The staff were attentive and helpful when I checked in, and the hotel was extremely clean everywhere I went. The main issue was parking. Despite the Expedia ad saying there was hotel parking and valet service, neither was available. I had to use a public garage two blocks away.

Parking is a problem here. There’s no hotel rate at the garages and no valet, so you’re left hoping for a street spot or a public garage. The closest garage is $30 a night. I arrived at 1:30 and was told no rooms were available, which was fine since check-in is at 3 and they said they were full and short-staffed. Before I left to get food, reception said they’d have a room for me before 3. I came back close to 3, and the same receptionist said the next room would be mine. It wasn’t. Three people or families got rooms, then a different receptionist told me mine wouldn’t be ready until 4-5 PM. I asked to cancel and went to another hotel, where I got a room right away. Wasting customers’ time and lying to them is disrespectful and poor service.
