WoodSpring Suites Gainesville I-75

We left a day early as soon as we could. After checking in, my wife asked if we could cut our three night booking down to two and get the third night refunded. The answer was no, though the front desk guy did helpfully say we could leave whenever we wanted. Thanks, Warden. We only booked because Gainesville was full for the Gator’s football game, and I wouldn't stay here again. The room was clean and the A/C worked, but most of the stay felt like minimum security prison. The beds were institutional and stiff, the pillows were awful, and when we asked for extras, we were told there weren't any. The cleaning chemical smell was strong everywhere. I guess that means they clean, but why use so much of it?

The rooms were clean and decent, but Tia, the manager, was the real highlight. I'm picky and had a request every time I turned around, and she took care of each one with so much thought and care. I'll definitely come back, as long as I can make sure Tia is on shift.

We lasted about 30 minutes before leaving, and the $120 nonrefundable charge was a painful loss. We'd usually stay at red roof in plus on archer, but it was expensive that day, so we tried this place after a long day. The cigarette smell got worse as we walked to the room and was giving me a headache by the door. Inside was disgusting: dirty walls, loud guests, no soundproofing, an uncomfortable bed, and sheets covered in what looked like little hairs. Other reviewers mentioned roaches, and I kept expecting them to show up. Then I sprayed disinfectant over the bed and found what looked like a fat lipstick mark on my wife's pillow. Unbelievable. This is a safety hazard. Don't stay here, pay a little more for somewhere better.

The only decent part was the room cleaning staff, a lady and a gentleman who were polite and tried to help as much as they could. Everything else was awful. The photos look way better than the rundown, disgusting place we found. Trash was everywhere, including an overflowing bin by the entrance that smelled terrible and had flies around it. There were constant bad smells, from people smoking weed to people not washing. While we were there, people overdosed in the parking lot, and there was fighting and weed smoking with employees in front of children. Dogs barked at all hours, and the keys always needed to be re-keyed. A lot of people seem to use this place as a home. Not what we expected at all.
