Being close to UCSB is a plus, but the rooms felt dated and uncomfortable. The airport flight path made it really loud, and I could constantly hear the person above me walking and shutting doors because there’s little sound insulation. I wouldn’t stay here again when the very nice Residence Inn is down the street.
Our flight was cancelled when CA flooded and SBA shut down, and this Marriott gave us some relief in the middle of a rough trip. The hotel feels modern, the staff were on top of things, and my room was excellent.
A step above the usual Courtyard. The rooms are clean and really spacious, and the pool area is lovely, with fire pits where you can relax in the evening. I also appreciated a small touch that’s unusual at this level: real ceramic coffee mugs and glass drinking glasses in the room, not plastic.
Around 3 a.m., a sharp, piercing noise started in my room and went on for a long time. I suspect the air conditioning caused it. I recorded it and played it for the front desk. The earplugs already in the room make it seem like this may be a known problem, which is especially frustrating. This was easily my worst Marriott stay, and I wouldn’t return or recommend it.
Who comes to Goleta without a car? The place is nice enough, but they charge $15 a day for outdoor self-parking on top of the room. Other area hotels don’t charge for parking, so this fee feels like greed.
