My Place Hotel - Grand Forks, ND

The housekeeping is a 10/10, and this has been a great place to stay. Rooms are cleaned every four days, which works fine with what's provided. The kitchenette doesn't come with dishes or utensils, but since I'm here for months, I didn't mind buying a $20 cookware set at Walmart. Being away from friends and family has been a hard adjustment. One housekeeper went the extra mile and left my otter in the room, which absolutely made my day. It's rare to meet people who care about both their work and the people staying here. I'm more grateful to this housekeeper than I can say.

For those of us who sleep during the day, having no pool is a plus since there's less foot traffic than at other places. The hotel is very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the shower gets hot with great pressure. I've stayed many times over the years, often at odd hours, checking in around 7-8am and checking out at 6pm. They've been very accommodating, including letting me wash my scrubs, and my floor has been quiet. Night shifters love you! It's one of the best hotels during winter storms.

The beds were way too soft, and we barely slept all night. For the same or a little more per night, other suite hotels provide dishes, flatware, and a pot or pan. Here, despite having a full-size fridge, cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster, there was no cookware, flatware, dishes, glass, or coffee mug. The freezer's ice maker barely worked, taking over three hours for just 15 cubes, and it was loud. I'd also requested that it be turned on before we arrived, but it wasn't. The staff were excellent and the suite shop was well stocked, but the hotel was expensive for a room without even toast included at breakfast.

My Place has a really good staff, friendly enough to feel like family. If something comes up, even one of the rare small issues, they jump on it like family hosting you. A great hotel depends on having great people, and this place has them. The location is convenient too, with events and a convenience store across the street and everything only minutes away. My Place isn't a bad hotel at all. I recommend it 100%.
