Days Inn And Suites By Wyndham Grand Rapids Near Downtown

I've stayed at plenty of Days Inns over the years, but this one needs work. The rugs need replacing throughout, and only one of the two elevators works. Breakfast is just continental, unlike at other Days Inns I've visited. The front desk service was hit or miss, sometimes helpful, other times as if I was bothering them. I had to leave room 225 because of elevator noise and a door that stuck. Room 334 was quieter, but its door still stuck a little and the tub was in terrible shape. The location worked for me, but I won't return or stay at the Baymont next door, since it's owned by the same person.

One of the two old, slow elevators was out of order. In my room, the bathroom was so filthy I couldn't bring myself to shower, and bugs were crawling on the nightstand. The carpet had huge stains, maybe blood, the mini fridge freezer was completely iced over, and the furniture was torn, with a broken desk chair. The website still shows a hot tub, but they no longer maintain it, which feels like false advertising. I stay at many Wyndham properties each year, and this is easily the worst. Wyndham should be ashamed to put its name here. Avoid it at all costs.

We looked carefully in both rooms we stayed in and didn't find bedbugs, roaches, or any other bugs. The staff were pleasant and service was good, with smiles whenever we saw them. The carpets do have a few stains and some wear, but this is an older building, so that seems expected. They were vacuumed and clean. It's a good place to rest your head while traveling.

We chose this place because it was close to downtown, and what a bad choice. My friends and I booked three rooms overnight to see Katt Williams. All the carpets were filthy and stained. My friend's curtains were ripped and ragged, another friend saw a roach on the toilet, and the porcelain in my sink needed repair. The friend who saw the roach kept the lights on all night, worried about taking one home. I packed everything back into my suitcase and kept it off the floor on the bed. The hotel needs many updates, and I'd put it last on the list. They also charged me for a king-size bed they didn't have ready, then gave me a double. At least Katt Williams and his crew were funny, which made the stay in that dump feel worth it. I'm glad to be out of there.
