Quality Inn Grand Rapids South-Byron Center

I paid more for the two nights I managed to stay here, after driving 12 hours and needing sleep, than I paid for four days at a Choice hotel in Livonia. I left early and moved to another hotel. The jacuzzi suite felt unsafe: the door latch didn't work, so someone could have pushed the door open, and the window by the bed wouldn't close, letting snow in and making the room cold and damp. Half the jacuzzi jets were broken too. I wouldn't recommend that suite to anyone.

The room was basic and the rate was cheap, and we had fun in the pool at first. Then I spotted a baby roach. When I asked the front desk for a refund, he said there couldn't be another one and offered us their best room. It was right next to the room we'd just left.

We were 700 miles from home, visiting family in Grand Rapids for eight days and nights, so we were especially glad the stay worked out so well. We had booked at the last minute, and the room was just what we needed. The staff were wonderful and the service fantastic, and we really enjoyed both the breakfast and the pool. We were a family with children, and all of us were happy with the experience.

The room smelled musty and was pretty average. A window had been left open by the previous guest, and noise from the highway and industrial area went on all night. Inside, the plumbing got loud whenever other rooms used it, the toilet ran through the night, and the whirlpool tub sounded like its motor was shot.
