Grand River Hotel

Getting here was easy, and the place was easy to spot. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with things like soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and coffee provided. I also liked that the big pool and hot tub, plus the fitness center, were well looked after, and towels were waiting in the pool area. Staff were friendly and smiling, and they made a point of explaining the hotel rules and nearby things to do when I checked in. They were helpful throughout and seemed keen to make sure guests had what they needed.

The condition of this hotel was awful. My coworker found a crack pipe on the carpet in his room, and my room had no towels. When I checked out, the clerk refused to print a receipt; it never reached my inbox or spam folder, and the phone line doesn't let you leave a message. This will be fun to expense. The area felt unsafe too, with homeless people sleeping in the parking lot when we left. I wouldn't stay here again even if someone paid me.

Crystal, the manager, was very rude. My son drove more than two hours to check in and was turned away because he wasn't 21, even though he had someone who was 21 with him. Another employee had already told me that would be fine. They kept his money and plan to rent the room to someone else. The website doesn't clearly say guests must be 21, and I had to search to find it. Why let him book in the first place? The worst part is keeping his payment while renting the room again. Refund his money. This is a scam, and no wonder the reviews are terrible.

The outdoor space by the river is huge and could be really cute, maybe with a band and an outdoor bar. Instead there's trash all over the patio, and the pool and hot tub are very dirty. There's no restaurant either. I can live with a place being old and outdated, but someone should at least clean up outside. The pool is huge, but it's just dirty, and guests can't be expected to care for the place if the hotel doesn't. Extremely disappointed.
