Embassy Suites by Hilton Greensboro Airport

We were here for a business function, and the hotel’s large conference room comfortably fit our very big group. The atrium is beautiful, with glass elevators, and there’s a clean indoor pool and tons of parking. The staff were consistently very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable, though a little dated, and the bathroom was small. I prefer a walk-in shower, but these rooms have tub showers. The mini fridge was still warm when we left and never seemed to cool down. Those last two things are why I rated the room itself four stars.

Very clean, and the breakfast was great. A chef will make whatever you want within reason. Just be checked in by 6, because the two complimentary alcoholic drink coupons expire at 7 p.m.

The pool was a disappointment: there wasn’t a hot tub, and the indoor pool wasn’t heated. Two other guests said it used to be heated and there used to be a hot tub. We also didn’t get to use the two free drinks, offered each night around 5:30 to 7 p.m., because we had a work party. The mattresses are on the firm side, while the fluffy pillows sink right down when you rest your head. The beds themselves were very clean. I liked seeing my name on the TV when I walked in, and the hotel is beautiful inside with a warm, romantic feel to the rooms. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of options and made-to-order omelets. Room 614’s curtains need washing; they looked like they had food smears from someone’s dirty hands. If upgrades are planned, the very rusty bathroom wall lights could be replaced with a finish to match the “street lamps” in the main lobby and dining areas. It’s the little details.

I’m in GSO for work several times a month, and the reliable, quick van to the airport makes Embassy Suites one of my favorite places to stay overnight. The breakfast is my favorite part. I’m always glad to see Veronica at the omelette station and say hello before sitting down to my usual custom omelette.
