Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Greensboro

The staff were incredible and tried hard to help, but the rooms were awful. I went in with low expectations, thinking an $80 night couldn't be that bad. Spend the extra $40 and stay elsewhere. The first room had hair in the tub, like someone had shaved their own Brazilian there. In the second, duct tape covered holes in the tub floor, the sheets were dirty, and the shower control was detached from the wall, though it did work. The night staff member said she was alone and couldn't leave the desk, so she stopped short of changing the dirty sheets. She gave me clean sheets and towels, and I had to change the bed myself. I don't know how this is part of Wyndham, even as a budget brand. It's bad. I should have left after seeing the first room, but I'm passing this along in case someone else is thinking of rolling the dice. Don't.

For this price range, this is an awesome hotel. It's a little dated, but well maintained and clean. I always get friendly service and feel safe here. I've had bugs at other hotels around this price, and this one does a great job spraying to keep them out.

After a long day at work, that warm welcome at check-in really made my night. The blonde woman at the desk was so friendly. Thanks for making the effort, it doesn't go unnoticed.

I stayed here for over a week and had a lot of problems. My AC was never fixed after I asked, and I found my belongings had been gone through while I was out. The staff did a fantastic job cleaning, but the rest of the experience was troubling. I was charged more in person than the online price, and they kept a card on file even though I paid cash. Somehow, $600 disappeared from my debit card, and I don't know why. The breakfast was passable, though the sausage was microwaveable and seemed poorly stored. I also saw people staying without paying, some apparently made to do manual labor without work visas, while others came and went freely. People on the property made a point of provoking me over my confidence in who I am and what I believe, which seemed to scare them. I applied for one of the jobs they said they were hiring for, but Amanda later told me they weren't hiring, despite what she'd said earlier. I was also concerned to see people I understood to be convicted felons roaming the building, and what looked like surveillance in electrical maintenance rooms on each floor and downstairs, watching guests.
