Tru by Hilton Greensboro, NC

The lobby looked nice and was well kept, the desk staff were kind, and breakfast was cleanly set out. My room seemed to get missed by maintenance and housekeeping, though. White dust covered the bathroom, like someone had sanded repaired ceiling or walls without cleaning up, and there was dried toothpaste and maybe makeup in the sink. The bed had ripped sheets and the mattress felt like they’d ordered it off temu. Worst sleep of my life. Definitely an oversight, and mistakes happen, so it wasn’t the worst place I’ve ever stayed lol.

For a business stay, this was a solid pick. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower stayed hot. The service was friendlier than I expected, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby plus quick freeway access. Even as a light sleeper, I had very little noise. Nothing flashy, but I’d book again.

They charged us a “damage fee” for supposed damage to sheets, towels, and a chair, though none of those items were damaged. I asked for photos or other proof and never got any. The room itself was clean, with a few minor stains, but the staff had attitudes and acted like they didn’t want to help. I usually stay in high class hotels, and this one gets 3/5 stars from me. I wouldn’t stay again. Not sure what happened to my original comment.

I usually like this chain’s modern, simple feel, and this hotel was fine. The problem is that I booked it specifically because it said the fitness facility was open 24 hours, as Tru by Hilton Hotels are supposed to be. This one apparently doesn’t open until 5 AM, which didn’t fit my very early work schedule. I probably wouldn’t book here again for that reason.
