Motel 6 Greenville, SC - I-85 Near Downtown

I lived here for a while and complained several times about what was going on, but nothing changed. There’s a lot of drug dealing, staff know about it and do nothing, and they keep saying they’ll clean things up without following through. Some staff seem unqualified to manage the place and accept anyone without judging character. Customer service is poor, and whenever I raised clear concerns, I was told they’d take care of it, but they didn’t. The real owner should know what’s happening. If zero stars were an option, they’d get zero across the board. I’m just glad I moved away from this trashy place.

The room smelled strongly of smoke, and just a few minutes walking around left our socks black from the sticky, black film on the floor. There was unknown fluid dripping down the walls, lots of dust, dirt and dead bugs on the floor and furniture, cigarette holes and stains on the sheets, dirty towels, and a pitchfork carved into the TV. People were screaming and yelling for someone to “pull up” until 3am. When we asked the desk if we could move to a clean or odor-free room, the associate wasn’t sure if any rooms were clean. In the morning, the front desk said the night audit hadn’t passed along what we’d reported. We got no refund, discount, or anything to make the stay bearable. I work in hotels, and there should be a housekeeper checking rooms, plus a housekeeping manager checking their work. From the night audit and front desk response, it seemed like they had no housekeeping or management, or the staff weren’t doing their jobs. The risk of bedbugs, scabies, or other serious health hazards isn’t worth saving $20. Please stay somewhere else.

I’ve trusted Motel 6 in most places, but this one was a hard no. I saw the room and refused to stay for the first time ever. It needs repairs, mold remediation, paint, and a deep clean. I know housing is tough, and I hope they address the conditions. I couldn’t get my refund right away and was left without anywhere to stay.

I’m a travel nurse from Indiana and booked one night online at the last minute. The low price made me expect a run-down place, and that’s what it was. I still had to pay a $50 deposit, though I don’t understand why when the rooms are already in bad shape. A deposit is supposed to cover repairs, but they keep charging them without fixing damage left by previous guests. I paid on Oct 25, and it’s November 24 with no deposit back. I didn’t even sleep in the room for unrelated reasons. I showered, then slept in my car and checked out in the morning.
