Budget Inn Harrisonburg

After a second conversation with management, I did get a refund. The staff I spoke with then handled things professionally, apologized for the trouble, and admitted the website pictures were misleading. We ended the conversation with a handshake and the sense that you get what you pay for. Before that, though, our room was awful. It was tiny, with stained carpet, cracked walls, a fishy air conditioner smell, and pet hair on an old bed. The lock didn’t work properly, and the loose chain was all that kept the door closed. People we believed were prostitutes stayed downstairs, with cars pulling up and honking all night. The TV looked decades old, had a fuzzy picture, and needed two remotes, but we had only one and could get just one channel. The toilet kept flushing for ages and randomly through the night. The sink had almost no pressure, the shower was barely warm, and the microwave outlet stopped working less than ten seconds after we turned it on. The bed was the only plus, despite its age and the pet hair. I asked for a refund and was first told there was a strict no-refund policy. They offered another room, but it was even more disgusting than the first. I would not recommend booking here.

It’s the cheapest place in town, so I guess you get what you pay for. The room had a musty smell, and we had to open the windows to air it out before we could close the doors and sleep. In the king room, there was just one set of towels, and they felt like cardboard. The mattress was so soft it swallowed us. They advertise in-room coffee in the Marquee, but there was no sugar or cream. The place could use some work.

For around $50 a night, it’s a decent budget hotel. The refrigerator and ceiling fan didn’t work, and it wasn’t the cleanest place I’ve stayed, but the AC and everything else worked. The sheets and towels were clean, and I saw no sign of bed bugs. The woman at the office was nice. I’d stay again if I passed through town.

They seemed nice until I found bedbugs and showed them. They sprayed the bed with dollar-store bug spray and tried to make me stay in room 115. When I asked to switch, they got rude and said my money wasn’t good there, until I called the news channel. They then moved me to room 123 for $55. The next night, when I tried to extend my stay, the price went up to $75. This place may be okay on a budget, but I don’t know. They were nice until there was a problem with the room.
