Towneplace Suites Hays

I’m Platinum, though my Titanium status recently expired, and I called ahead to ask about bringing our golden retriever. The hotel doesn’t allow pets over 35lbs, which I understand, even with the fee. The woman on the phone sounded pretty cold. I’m glad I checked first.

It’s in a really good spot right off the highway, and the man working the front desk at night was nice. In the room, though, everything around the shower was so slick that I was worried about falling. There were no bath mats, so I had to put towels on the tile floor. Breakfast also felt a little chintzy, with very small portions.

The interior feels welcoming, with elegant design and luxurious furnishings throughout. The architecture is beautiful too, and the attention to detail gives the whole place a sophisticated feel. It’s a comfortable, stylish retreat.

The location is good, right off I-70, and aside from one recurring issue, it’s an okay place to spend the night. The older woman at the front desk is rude and seems unhappy, and she won’t let you check in early even when your room is ready. I travel to this area regularly and often stay at Marriott Hotels. Whenever she’s working, there’s a problem. With anyone else at the desk, check-in is pleasant and easy.
