Centerstone Resort Lake-Aire

The rooms could use some updating, but they were spacious and had a handy kitchenette for anyone wanting to cook. We used it to store food we'd packed for trail lunches. The property itself is really pretty, with lovely views all around and great access to the lake, including two docks. Breakfast was more than enough for us, and the coffee was great.

The description is pretty deceiving. Breakfast was good, but there wasn't much to choose from. It was clean, and the manager and staff were nice. If rustic is what you like, this place may be for you. For me, though, I wouldn't stay here again.

Didn't expect much, but it turned out to be an awesome stay. Really nice, and I'll be back for a visit in the summer.

We only stayed because the Lakeview was so wonderful. Don't let that fool you, though. It was the only good thing there. The room and the premises had a funky smell, and there were full garbage bags all over the property. I'm sure at least that's what was making it smell outside. You'd think they'd have cleaned it up before check-in. The locks on the lakeside of the building were faulty. The old key card locks auto-locked us out of our room. When we finally found a housekeeper, she was rude and said, "that's just how these old locks are". If the equipment is faulty, guests should be warned at check-in. The blinds were a problem too. We needed proper blinds, especially after a male employee looked through our windows one day. It was extremely jarring and inappropriate, and nothing was done about it. About an hour after that perverted incident, a county sheriff suddenly evicted us, supposedly for "smoking weed". My partner and I had maybe four tobacco cigarettes while we were there, and we walked all the way down to the beach to smoke them. Even the cop didn't care to search us or investigate any further. That says a lot about how unprofessional and spineless the family running the place is. I recommend that anyone of any sort of color, or with a non-American-sounding name, stay far away. When we were leaving, the same man who'd looked through my window had unmistakable hatred in his eyes. Please be safe, and I hope you take my warning seriously.
