Scottish Inn

There was nearly a whole old pizza behind the dresser, cigarette butts under the bed, and cockroaches in the room. The bedspread was filthy and burned from cigarettes, and the carpet was terribly dirty. The place smelled awful too. The man and woman who seem to run or own this motel were two of the rudest people I’ve ever met. This motel needs to be shut down.

The room was spacious and clean, and the customer service was A+. I checked in around midday and was settled and comfortable just 6-7 minutes later, the fastest check-in I’ve had while traveling. There’s a great seafood restaurant within walking distance, and the location is excellent.

We expected little for the price, but this felt like a bowery, and if we’d arrived earlier we would have gone somewhere else. The non-smoking rooms smelled strongly of weed and cigarettes, there was hair in the shower, sticky counters, and burn holes in all the upholstery. It clearly seemed to be a local party spot. The owner and his wife were shouting at a customer over a late payment when we arrived to check in. Bass-heavy cars drove through the lot throughout the night, roughly from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. The hotel is near the local fire department and I85.

For the $72 I paid, this was absolutely not worth it. The bedspread was so disgusting that I didn’t even want to sit on it. I couldn’t tell when it had last been washed, if it ever had been.
