Hillsboro Inn & Suites

After driving all day, we were unfamiliar with the area, but thankfully found a much cleaner, nice hotel just minutes away. We had booked a weekend here and checked the room before bringing in our bags, as we always do. Before I could even walk back through it, my husband spotted a bed bug. He calmly took it to the front desk. Once the manager saw the bug, he told us we had to leave. The attendants' attitude was alarming. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We stayed for a couple of months, and I actually dreaded leaving. The owner really cares about the hotel and its tenants, and tries to keep it safe and quiet so people can rest. Our room was comfortable, clean, and spacious, with a fridge and stove, so we could cook like at home. The welcoming staff wanted us to feel at home, and housekeeping was attentive every day, keeping the room clean and making sure we had what we needed. There's also a 24/7 laundry room, vending machines, and fresh ice. I booked in April 2024, and would definitely recommend Hillsboro inn if you're in town or passing through. Thanks for the hospitality.

My son decided not to stay the second night and handed in the key. I called the manager about what we'd found, but he denied it and said there'd be no refund for that night. He said another manager would call me, but no one did. When I called again, the same man repeated that there'd be no refund. He didn't want a bad review, but still wouldn't refund us, so here's the review as promised. I booked this recently refurbished hotel for my son and two grandsons while they were visiting, since we don't have room at home. My grandson with red hair slept in one bed, and my son and other grandson in the other. The red-haired grandson found black strands in his bed, which obviously weren't his. Had the sheets not been changed after the previous guest? There was also some nasty looking brown stuff on the bathroom wall.

The bed was comfortable, and I could park my Harley right outside the door and window. The shower was decent too. But $80 is far too much for a room with no chair or coat rack, and I never got the TV to work. It looked recently remodeled, though the workmanship was ghastly. The glass security wall at the front wasn't very classy.
