We live in Alabama and stayed here last week, went home for three or four days, then came back this week. The owners, or the family who run the place, are really nice, especially the wife, who's the sweetest. Every room is non-smoking, though there are a few ash trays outside. We had a king room with a mini fridge, microwave, full-size ironing board and iron, blow dryer, table with two chairs, desk, office chair, and free WiFi. There are ground-floor rooms starting with 1 and upstairs rooms starting with 2. In one little room on the property, there's a washer and dryer, $2 each to use, plus a free ice machine and a soda machine with $2 bottles. Outside, there are trash cans, a dumpster, a picnic table, and two grills. The place is nice and clean, friendly, and reasonable, but it isn't fancy. If you expect the Marriott, you'll be disappointed. There's no continental breakfast or any breakfast. We'll definitely be back and recommend it.

We've been staying here until our home is finished, and the staff have been super polite. They've been great about keeping us in the same room, and the place has been updated and remodeled tastefully. I don't know why this motel has a low rating. Around here, it's the kindest staff and the nicest, most easygoing motel I've stayed at. Thanks for making our stay easy.

Paragon had good reviews and one of the lower prices, so I decided to try it even though I usually trust chain motels more than independents. The room was super clean, and the lighting, flooring, shower, and furniture all looked and felt pretty new. I arrived around 11 at night and the place was quite full, so if there were any rough rooms, I could have ended up with one. Mine was great. It isn't luxurious, but it's nice, new, and clean. The only drawback is that the beds are definitely firm. I'd stay again. (September 2025)

For a motel with minimalist amenities, a bed like a medieval torture device, and an unexpected 2 a.m. car alarm opera, it was an okay stay. One alarm soloist may even have been in B-flat. The bed felt like a sidewalk under a fitted sheet, and I woke up feeling like I'd lost a fight with a granite countertop. My spine is practically spelling “HELP” in Morse code. The Paragon Motel had me expecting coffee on tap, but there wasn't even a coffee pot. I stared at the empty counter, waiting for an apology and a medium roast. We left a $5 tip anyway, to compensate someone for the plot twist in “The Case of the Phantom Coffee Pot.” Would I come back? Only with my own coffee pot, mattress topper, noise-canceling headphones, and chiropractor. Three stars for effort, two for comfort, and one for the coffee pot that never was.

The rooms are large, nice, and newer, but there was no coffee. The shower controls were confusing, and the stopper was missing. For hot water, leave the black knob in the middle. Both ends are cold.
