Desert Hills Motel

The room was disgusting and poorly maintained, with outdated appliances and barely two minutes of hot water if you were lucky. I might have put up with that for a budget stay, but the owners were the worst people I’ve ever met. My friend and I had been in the same room for a week, splitting the payment each day. Today I paid, then stepped out for a few hours with the key. My friend stayed behind, shut the door, and needed to get back in. The owner refused to open it because he hadn’t paid that day, even though we’d booked the room for a full week. She wouldn’t even let him get his things, so he had to sit outside for two hours.

The toilet was loose on the floor, and the room was poorly cleaned. The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed well, and there were crumbs left on the table. The pillows were worn, dirty, and stained yellow and purple, and the bed had no fitted sheet. One of the roughest places I’ve stayed. Use caution, and only as a last resort when other places are full.

Quiet and nicer than I expected. A good place to stay if you’re on a budget.

The room cost $20 more than it had the week before. When I asked the woman if that was the usual rate, she said the price changes every time. They’re crooks.
