Econo Lodge I-40 exit 286 Holbrook

The room was okay for its price and check-in went smoothly, but cleanliness is the main thing for us and it fell short. There was a hair on the toilet seat, hairs on the pillowcases, and the sheets were very worn. We could hear the people in the next room for hours through the thin walls, with their TV playing and doors banging open and shut. There weren't many guests around, but we happened to be beside them. We wouldn't come back because of the dirty bedding and hair.

We had a reservation for tonight and were meant to check out the morning of 11/25. After arriving, we spent 20 minutes going back and forth with someone through a Ring in 45-degree weather while they insisted our booking was for tomorrow. It was late, so we eventually agreed to pay another $100 just to get to bed. Then we were met with attitude and hostility. I attached a picture as proof, but she refused to look at it or consider it. The owners are responsible for letting this person represent their business. We own two prominent businesses in Scottsdale, and I've never experienced anything like this. I won't book work a Econo motel again. We gave it a try, and learned our lesson.

I really wanted to give this place five stars. The room was fantastic, and after a great check-in on Dec 30, I got to binge a bit of Game of Thrones on HBO and the other movie channels. But breakfast the next morning was a mess. A different clerk behind the counter had a gloomy attitude, and there wasn't any food, even though lots of people were in there eating. She said she was going to make some, so I waited an hour and watched people keep going to the office and back. Still no food when I returned, and no clerk either. Without that, it'd be five stars, best hotel ever.

We travel probably nine months out of the year, and Econolodge usually isn't our first choice. This place was a pleasant surprise: it's clean, the customer service is a 10+, and the fresh eggs in the morning have us already looking forward to breakfast. MARI, the GM, is the most helpful I've ever seen. Congratulations to Mari and the staff, and thank you for doing such a fantastic job. God bless you!!!
