Magnuson Hotel Adobe Inn

Staff were nice, and the room looked clean. The AC couldn't get the temperature below 75, though I know that's a first world problem and there are limits to AC in hot climates. I could see daylight all around the door, which didn't seem to close fully. Breakfast was meals at best. I didn't use the pool, which sits in the middle of the parking lot behind a small fence. Compared with the motels nearby, this one looked the least scary.

The room was unbearably hot, and the strong pet smell made it feel like someone had kept cats in there for weeks. The thermostat didn't control the temperature, so we had to run the AC in February, but it blew air warmer than outside. I didn't have much hope a different room would be better, so I can't say whether another one would have helped. I spent the night in what felt like a hot cat litter box and wouldn't stay again. The hotel itself is in a great location, clean, with comfortable beds, reliable WiFi, and professional, courteous staff. Breakfast was a mediocre spread of cereal, fruit, yogurt, and waffles.

Breakfast was a bright spot. There were eggs, hash browns, waffles, bacon, yogurt, Danish and more. I was happy with it, though the bacon was only okay and ran out soon after guests began arriving. The very nice attendant kept things clean and stocked, replacing it with ham. For a free breakfast, it was great. The room was decent and clean, but the bed was so hard we could feel the springs. I found the rate, booked in a hurry through my phone's maps app when other places were full and it was getting late, nearly twice the price of nearby options. I wouldn't return: the high rate and terrible bed weren't worth it, and breakfast can't make up for a bad night's sleep for me.

The room was clean, but beyond that I felt we could've spent our budget money better somewhere else. The toilet needed its lid removed about every other time to flush, and the refrigerator was so loud we had to unplug it. The chairs were falling apart, and the broken security latch on the door didn't help us feel at ease. I expected little from a cheap motel, but it still disappointed.
