Rodeway Inn Montpelier

The room felt secure, and I can’t complain for what I paid, though it could use an update. The restaurant next door makes great omelettes.

It’s a dated budget hotel, as you’d expect, but it was very clean and the staff were friendly. I passed a room being cleaned and saw all the bedding had been stripped for washing. That should be standard, but in my experience it rarely is at budget hotels. No complaints. If you’re in the area and need a comfortable night’s sleep, this place works.

The Wi-Fi didn’t work, the carpet was dirty, and the linens were stained. There was dried blood on the pillows and marks on the towels. Every time I moved, the bed made a thunderous noise. A miserable night.

The only things I liked were the TV picture, which was great, and the comfortable bed. The rest of the room was a mess. I couldn’t find a clean surface, the chairs didn’t match, the phone was broken, and the blanket had large holes. There were only four tiny pillows, and I had to stack them to get comfortable. I also found long black hair in the tub and nasty orange stains on a washcloth. The A/C worked off and on.
