We’ve stayed here three times over the years for pheasant hunting, and it does the job as a place to sleep before a day out. We booked early online and got a better rate. For $10 more a night, we chose the “suite.” It gives you a separate bedroom, plus a living area with a kitchenette. The full-size fridge and freezer were especially handy for lunch supplies, drinks, and pheasants. There’s also a pullout couch, two chairs, coffee table, and another TV, which gave our dog some space and let us eat takeout. The furniture was very worn, though, and the couch squeaked a lot. The kitchenette was barely stocked, just one fork and a tiny sauce pot for the electric stove. Dogs are welcome, which is a big plus, but they cost $25 per dog per night. There’s grass along the side and back for walks, and poop bags are available. The parking lot is small, though there’s a large gravel area for trucks behind the hotel. They’ve even set up a pheasant cleaning shed beside the building. The woman who checked us in was friendly and helpful. There are only two floors, but no elevator, just stairs. Coffee and tea are out in the lobby all day, though the coffee runs out quickly in the morning. It’s the same coffee as the maker in the room. Breakfast is included: on weekdays it starts at 6 a.m., but weekends begin at 7. That’s normal for a regular hotel, but too late for hunters heading out. The breakfast is basic, with potatoes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt, bagels, bread, drinks, and packaged pastries. The place needs maintenance. There were cracked tiles, scuffed walls and ceilings, worn furniture and bed, scratchy sheets, flat pillows, thin toilet paper, and loose shower fixtures. The TV and DirecTV remotes only partly worked. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided, though we didn’t use them. Housekeeping doesn’t come unless you stay more than four nights or request it. At least the room doors are inside the building. The regular room had a mini fridge, small coffee maker, desk and chair, iron and board, and luggage rack. There are a few restaurants nearby. We like happy jacks BBQ, but it and most other places were closed for the holiday when we visited. Subway and Frog and Horse brewpub were open. The hotel also has a small bar and food counter by the breakfast area where you can order things like pizza, though we didn’t try it. We ate at Frog and Horse both nights, and it was good but expensive. For the price, this is a motel room to sleep in before hunting, so set your expectations accordingly.

A fair price, friendly staff, and clean rooms made this a good stay. They welcome dogs, have a small bar and restaurant, and even provide a rooster cleaning station. I’d come back, easily 10/10.

Small-town service at its best. After my car was hit in the parking lot, the staff checked in on me more than once. The maintenance man also went out of his way to get it repaired enough for me to drive home. The front desk staff were ready to hold my room in case I needed another night. I definitely recommend staying here.

Good price, a nice lounge, and a decent continental breakfast. Some rooms are clearly dated, and I noticed a few little things that needed attention.

Such a friendly staff, and the breakfast was great. For a small town, this is a fantastic hotel, and a nice break from the craziness of Denver.
