Courtyard by Marriott Houston I-10 West/Memorial

The lobby has good workspace, and the bathrooms and rooms are fine. It’s clean and relatively new, a pretty standard, no-frills Courtyard Marriott. The gym is the big letdown. It has a 5-50lb dumbbell rack, three crappy treadmills, three crappy ellipticals, and two crappy recumbent bikes, plus about 300 square feet sitting unused. They could have fit in a cable machine, lat pulldown, leg press, leg extension, one or two other auxiliary machines, or even a Smith Machine. New hotels could use the chance to rethink hotel gyms, but this one stuck to the usual playbook. The bistro is the same overpriced, mediocre concept you’d expect. Marriott caters to the average, and this Courtyard is just that.

I’ve been back at least a dozen times over the past couple of years. The staff are all great and very friendly, and the rooms and bathrooms are consistently clean.

We’d stay here again. It was clean and comfortable, but the air conditioner was very loud and the fridge didn’t stay cold enough for food, only drinks.

We had one of our most comfortable stays at a Courtyard Marriott. The front desk and cleaning staff were very welcoming, and the room was stocked with coffee and tea. They were happy to accommodate our late checkout, and we had a pleasant stay.
