Express Inn Hobby

We came back from celebrating my birthday and tried to relax, but my wife’s leg started itching. We lifted the covers and found bugs from outside in the bed, and some had gotten into our shoes while we packed. We showed the hotel proof and were offered another room, but we didn’t want to move, especially since it was already 2am. We wanted to leave right away and get a refund for the nights we wouldn’t use. We spent from 2am until 5am in the office going back and forth about it. The staff member eventually agreed to refund us, but after spending an hour trying the card, which was locked against transactions, he said it had been declined. It seemed like he was trying to charge me more instead of refunding me. Then he finally called the manager, whom I’d been asking to speak with for hours. I spoke to him for five minutes, he hung up, and we were told to leave and report the issue to hopper. All of this happened on my birthday, making an already awful situation even more inconvenient. The trouble started at check-in. The first room, which was supposed to be a King, had random stains on the bed, so they moved us to a room with two full beds. This place seemed mainly meant for 18-year-olds who want to party. If you’re visiting from out of town, don’t stay here. My stay was honestly horrible.

The rooms were cleaned almost every day, but the rest of the place felt depressing. There’s no gym or pool, the outside grounds weren’t maintained, rainwater was still on the ground, and the lounge was full of used furniture. The room itself was in poor shape. The furniture was old and worn, the fridge leaned to one side, and the microwave was rusty. There was no coffee machine, the room smelled like urine the whole time, and mosquitoes bit me several times. My first impression was already poor, especially when the manager came to help us wearing pajamas. This place is nowhere near a three-star hotel, and calling it one feels deceptive.

Google says it’s $45 a night, but once you arrive they’re asking for $70. The rules were better explained, but I was placed in a room with contractor workers on both sides. They also don’t provide what they claim to, including breakfast, so don’t believe that listing. I don’t see how they can charge $70 with all of this going on.

The room smelled like pee, and there were roaches and spiders. We killed the roaches. I found hair on the bed and a floor stain that looked like blood. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
