Palace Inn Blue I-45 & College Ave

The outside and the price might make you underestimate this place, but the room was a hidden gem. My son and I got a really low rate through Expedia since we only needed a budget spot near UH. We were shocked by how clean and well appointed the room was, and it looked recently upgraded. We couldn’t stop raving about it. The TV wasn’t much use, but we were only there overnight, so we didn’t mind. There was a little free breakfast, and the man at the desk was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We’ll use this place again and again when we visit.

The bathroom was spacious, modern, and clean. The freeway noise was bad enough that I needed earplugs to sleep. We spent two nights in Houston, with the Houston Space Center as our main destination, and the hotel was conveniently close to the airport and not too far from there.

The lobby was clean and well stocked, as were the rooms. The employees were great with customers.

Our room was tucked into a corner, away from the highway noise and rain, and it was clean, air conditioned, and had a modern feel. The bathroom was roomy, with a walk-in shower and a separate toilet door, which let some of us have privacy while others used the sink or shower. The shower had a nook for toiletries, a rain head, and plenty of hot water. The inn supplied shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, and lotion in dispensers to cut down on waste. There was even a magnifying mirror for makeup and emergency self pasted toothbrushes. We drove from IL for a UofH graduation and stayed a few extra days to see where our girl had been living. It was easy to drive to everything she wanted to show us, and the place had all we needed for five nights in Houston. Even though it’s listed as a budget hotel, it felt like more. We got a friendly welcome even late at night, and the cute lobby had coffee, juice, cereal, and slushies available all the time. There was also a landscaped garden with palm trees, flowers, and a small fountain. We couldn’t have been more pleased.
