Fairfield Inn by Marriott Huntsville

The quiet was a real highlight. Even over three nights, I never heard the hallway or neighboring rooms, and I slept better than I have on the road in months. The bed was that classic Fairfield combination of crisp and comfortable. Though the decor leans traditional, with warm wood and patterned carpets, the cleanliness was impeccable. Housekeeping clearly takes pride in the building. The people here make the place feel more like a small inn than a big chain. Front desk staff gave me useful dinner suggestions and remembered my name. Many of them seem to have worked here for years. Breakfast was spotless and well stocked. Even during the 8:00 AM rush, the attendant kept the eggs hot and the coffee fresh. Wi-Fi was fast, the shower pressure was great, and the AC was surprisingly quiet. This older Fairfield put some new modern hotels to shame. If you want a sleek lobby for photos, this might not be the place. But for a clean room, a good night's rest, and professional staff, I'd book again without hesitation.

The front desk response has felt dismissive, like an “I just work here” attitude, with no real reassurance or follow-up. I reported on my first day that the phone in my room wasn't working, and was told it would be fixed while I was out the next day. Now it's day four and it still doesn't work. I'm also concerned and confused that the hotel's main phone number is disconnected. It seems there's no way to reach the hotel at all, which is unacceptable. I expected reliable communication and staff who show care and professionalism. Instead, there has been no urgency, accountability, or communication that the problem is being addressed.

Ami made our daughter's birthday weekend special. We were in Huntsville for her sixth birthday, and when our reserved room wasn't ready, Ami found us another available room that we actually liked better. After she learned it was our daughter's birthday, she had her husband bring a beanie baby to the Fairfield, then wrapped it so she could surprise our daughter with a present. Everyone we met was extremely friendly. The indoor heated pool was great, and breakfast was amazing. We'll stay again. Thanks, Ami, for being so kind to our little girl.

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly during my nine-day work stay. It's an older building, but fairly well maintained. My main issue was the poor Wi-Fi and lack of Ethernet. Also, staff meetings seemed to happen in the lobby, which made it awkward walking through while they discussed building and staffing matters. I'd come back for a non-work trip, when internet access mattered less.
