Residence Inn Kansas City Independence

The room was uncomfortable to sleep in because it stayed at 75°F, and the thermostat wouldn't respond when I tried to adjust it. The bathroom ceiling was peeling, and there wasn't even a trash can in the room. We also couldn't find an ice machine or water fountain, which was inconvenient. From check-in, the room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed, and the cleanliness was far below what I expected. This stay didn't meet basic standards. I wouldn't recommend the hotel unless it makes significant improvements.

It took more than 45 minutes to check in and get a room, and during our two-night stay the key system kept failing. We had to go back down to the desk for keys over six times. Once, they gave us housekeeping keys to enter the room, and the mobile key never worked. The hotel was filthy. Hallway and stair carpets hadn't been vacuumed, trash sat in the hallway for over a day, housekeeping bins were left unattended, and there were dead bugs in the stairwell windows. The second morning, there was no hot breakfast because the kitchen had a leak. Parts of the hotel still looked like they were being renovated, and the room TVs didn't work. Worst Residence Inn experience ever. We'll never return. Don't stay here.

We had a two-bedroom suite, and it was really spacious, with very comfortable beds and nice pillows. The room was absolutely super nice, and the ACs were cold. What more could you ask for?

The staff were nice, but the room was disgusting, especially the bathroom. There were bedbugs in the sofa bed, the living room TV was broken, and the door to the main bedroom wouldn't close. I couldn't sleep even one night, and they didn't offer me another room to make things right. I expected more from Marriott. I've booked hundreds of hotels through them, and this was by far my worst experience. I wouldn't recommend staying here. It was a complete rip-off.
