My partner and I were turned away despite having identification. I had my physical ID, while my partner had a copy because she doesn’t yet have the physical one. We’ve stayed in other hotels with no problem over this. I also felt discriminated against because I don’t speak English fluently, especially since I saw other guests being allowed to do things like smoke on the property despite the clear prohibition. They told us to wait for the manager, and we spent almost two hours waiting without a clear answer or decent service. The reservation was paid through a third-party site. The hotel said to resolve it with the booking company, but the company said it depended on the hotel. It only sent an email, and the hotel denied the request. The whole experience was disappointing and unprofessional, with very poor customer service.

We stayed eight nights, and housekeeping didn’t come until day seven, even though we were told service is every three days and that schedule would have been fine. After the third day we called daily, were promised someone would come, and no one did. We had to ask for fresh towels every day and even clean our own bedding. My partner spoke to the housekeeper working next door and was told to contact the front desk; the desk said they’d come the next day, but they didn’t. When I went back to ask the housekeeper for towels and bedding, she said she “didn’t speak english,” despite having just had a full conversation in English with my partner. The room itself was nice and had what we needed, and the area felt okay in daylight, though not safe to walk around after sunset. Apart from the service, it would be a good hotel.

The actual hotel room was pretty good, and the front desk staff were kind and welcoming. I’m giving one star because the shuttle, listed online as free, cost $10 a person. If we’d known, we’d have taken an Uber and saved time. The evening shuttle driver on 4/26 was one of the most unpleasant people I’ve met, and seemed not to care that his job was customer service.

For $125.00, this was a great overnight stop. The drive from Phoenix to LAX was easy, with a simple exit off the 105 leading to Century Blvd and under the 405 to the hotel. Getting to LAX was straightforward too: turn right as you leave and go directly to the airport. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the dog was happy, so I was happy. My room had a refrigerator with a separate freezer and a hair dryer. Parking costs extra, as does having a pet. At Motel 6, pets are free; at Studio 6, which is the same hotel, the pet fee is $10. Many hotels charge $150 for a pet, so this is a great choice on that front. The west side is noisy. It wasn’t the hum of the 405, but street drag racing behind the hotel, loud until 10 PM.
