Downtown is an easy walk, and the small pool was nice, though it’s right beside the sidewalk and busy road, so passersby can watch you. The hot tub is a bit more tucked away and was nice too. We got a free upgrade to a suite, which worked well with our two kids: they slept in the bedroom while we stayed up in the living room. But the place is old and run down, none of the interior doors shut properly, and there was black mold in the bathroom. The kitchen lighting was harsh fluorescent, though I was glad we had a kitchen at all. We stayed 4-5 nights without anyone changing towels or making the beds. The suite’s washer and dryer were out of service, so we couldn’t do it ourselves.

We had a full kitchen in our unit, which came in handy, and the front desk staff were helpful. The rooms are a little dated, but comfortable and suited our needs. After hikes we spent a lot of time at the fantastic pool and hot tub. Our room wasn’t serviced, and we had to take our own trash to the dumpster as it piled up. That didn’t bother our group much since we tend to keep things clean ourselves, though I can see it being annoying on a longer stay. The other reviews about cleaning and the out-of-service in-unit washer and dryer are accurate. It’s well located for the main strip and restaurants. For the price, and with the pool, hot tub, and proximity, I’d happily stay again in Jackson.

Jackson Hole Lodge is a refurbished older motel on a busy street, within walking distance of downtown. It’s easy to confuse the name with The Lodge at Jackson Hole or Jackson Lake Lodge, but this isn’t a lodge in the woods and it isn’t owned by the National Forest Service. There’s no restaurant or food or drink available, despite what some photos suggest, not even water, soft drinks, or packaged snacks. The lodge-style furnishings are nice, and the updated queen beds were very comfortable, but most rooms are in the two-story buildings at the back and have no view. Our room was fairly clean, though it could have been cleaner, and the bathroom was very small. The plumbing needs a complete redo: our toilet backed up the first time we used it, and the sink faucets were hard to turn. Bring your own water, since the tap water is almost undrinkable. The staff were friendly and responsive. We paid $500 a night for two queen beds and were very disappointed for that price and the distance from town.

The front desk staff were fabulous, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Our first room was small but decent. On the second evening, a maintenance person came by because there was a leak below us, though we hadn’t noticed any water problem. The next day they called about the toilet, which also seemed fine to us, but offered to move us. The “family” room we got for our last night was much bigger, except for an even smaller bathroom. The shower heads are low, about right for a 10-12-year-old. The stay was fine, but for what they charge, they really need to keep up with maintenance.

The room smelled bad, and there was a hole in the door like someone had punched it. After one person showered, there was no hot water. We had a two-bedroom suite for two adults and four kids, and it was a horrible stay. The hot tub was closed for “Maintanence,” and there were only four towels in the whole suite. It looked like the last update was in 1980. We booked three nights but left after one. I was fine paying for that first night, but they refused to refund the other two, even after I spoke with the manager and general manager. We left for The Lodge at Jackson Hole, where we got a cheaper and much better room.
