The Lodge at Jackson Hole

We had a good time at the pool and hot tub, and the lobby had complimentary lemonade and ice water where we could refill our bottles after hiking. My wife, kids and I went on a few hikes during the trip. The carved wooden bears all over the place were a hit with my kids, and there seemed to be a real mix of honeymooners, older couples and families staying there. The lodge had a great atmosphere, and I’d come back. The front desk service could be better, though. For what I paid per night, I expected to be treated like a guest and made to feel welcome. That part needs work.

Gold at the front desk was extremely helpful, and the other service staff were friendly too. The morning breakfast was well worth the extra $5. I got a good place at a good price. My one disappointment was finding out pretty late that the pool and hot tub were closed. That’s a pretty big deal. They offered the pool at their sister hotel, but it was tiny.

The only real drawback is that it’s a bit out of the way if you want to walk downtown. Otherwise, I appreciated the complimentary coffee and the $5 all-you-can-eat breakfast, which beats a lot of hotel restaurants. After traveling regularly these past couple of years, I’ve learned that hospitality can’t be taken for granted. The Lodge still has it.

We loved the staff, and the pool, hot tubs and sauna all looked inviting, though we didn’t have time to try them. The $5 breakfast per adult was really good, especially the bacon. It wasn’t the best breakfast ever, but it had a nice range of choices and beat most continental breakfast bars. We were only passing through and wished we could’ve stayed longer. We’re seriously thinking of coming back just to stay here and explore the town and surrounding area more. Looking forward to it!
