Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Jacksonville Airport

The room and bedding were very clean, and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. The room itself was small, about the size of a cruise ship cabin, which fits a hotel called Microtel. Construction was happening right by my room, but there was barely any noise. Check-in was quick and the man at the desk was friendly. The TV wouldn’t connect to DirecTV at first, but checking it showed the HDMI cord was the problem, so it was an easy fix.

The rooms were clean, but ours smelled very musty, like urine. In the middle of the night we had to use our own deodorizer to make it a little better. We also needed ice after bringing drinks back, and the front desk said there was no ice machine on the property. They were repairing the hotel facade, so hopefully some good changes are coming.

With a car show in town, I ended up here because there didn’t seem to be another choice. The vending machine was broken, and the ATM charged $4 when all I wanted was water. I asked the front desk and she gave me two infant-size bottles, so otherwise water from the vending machine would’ve cost $5.50. Asinine! The service felt dry, the rooms were mediocre, and the only thing that seemed new was the carpet. Paint was chipped on pretty much every wall. You get what you pay for, I guess, but I blame myself for not driving another 25 minutes to a nicer hotel.

It was fine for what I needed, which was a place to rest, and the hotel was convenient. The room was small. With construction going on, they should have clearer signs telling guests which entrance to use.
