Dave and Ruth’s local knowledge was incredible. They seemed to know everyone and everything around the area, and were happy to help arrange wine tours, suggest hidden gems, or point us in the right direction. Spending time with them was a highlight, since they’re warm, welcoming, and clearly care about their community. The casitas are inviting, beautifully kept, and thoughtfully put together for relaxing and recharging. You can tell Dave and Ruth take real pride in the place. This felt like more than just lodging, there was real hospitality and connection throughout. We left refreshed and well looked after, and are already looking forward to coming back.

We had everything we needed, and the quiet was the best part. We’d sit and watch hawks cross the Texas sky while a nearby flock of Blackbelly sheep grazed. Peggy and Lee, the doggy welcome crew, would snore gently at our feet. For real tranquility and a Hill Country retreat, we’d happily recommend staying here.

I was volunteering as a bottler at Garrison Brothers Distillery, and someone recommended Hacienda Amor as the best place to stay. The comfortable beds and spacious living room made it easy to settle in. The bathroom had a great shower, with body bath, shampoo, and conditioner provided. The views are beautiful, the rooms charming, and the hosts warm. I also walked around the property each morning for exercise, with Peggy and Lee, the friendly, lovable Great Pyrenees, tagging along.

Dave and Ruth gave us useful tips about places to eat and things to see, and even drove us to Terra Trails, a local restaurant with amazing food and wonderfully attentive owners. We really enjoyed the kitchen lounge and the beautiful upstairs loft bedroom. The rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable. When we arrived at our Bardo that evening, the lights were on, with roses, a welcome note, and a bottle of wine waiting. Two lovely Pyrenees dogs greeted us in the driveway. We enjoyed the amenities and getting to know our hosts.

The porch and view were great for sitting outside and petting the two big, friendly dogs. The hosts communicated well and knew a lot about nearby entertainment and tours. The little barndos were clean, nice, and fairly new. Ours had two floors, a loft with a king bed, and downstairs a small living room, kitchen, bathroom, and another king bedroom. The shower was roomy, and the beds were comfortable. A great place for a few days.
