Quality Inn Joplin I-44

I needed somewhere to rest after a 15-hour drive. The price seemed reasonable and the reviews were good, but as I was starting to fall asleep I felt something crawling on me. I turned on the light and found bedbugs. I left right away. It ruined my night.

The staff helped us find parking, which was tough with construction vehicles taking up space in the lot. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we slept well. We found this gem while driving from OKC to St Louis and would highly recommend it.

Finding the place wasn’t easy. The address showed up wrong in two map apps, and access wasn’t obvious. The room was clean and on the small side. Breakfast was minimal at best. The shower was the main letdown. There was no cold water, and the spout knob didn’t work. If I hadn’t been ready to leave, I would’ve asked for another room.

I’ve stayed at Quality Inns in many states while traveling for business, and this one disappointed me. The room was very clean, which earns it three stars, though that feels generous. It was a tiny studio-like room for a queen bed, and the online pictures don’t show what it actually looks like. The hotel interior is very outdated. The old windows let in a draft. I had to tuck the curtains in to block some of the wind. There was no hot water last night or this morning, so I had to take an ice-cold shower. The location was so-so, and even though I had a reservation, the girl put me way down the hall on the third floor. In my opinion, it’s not worth the nightly price.
