Best Western Plus Kansas City Sports Complex Hotel

We could walk to the Chiefs game, and the location was great. The front desk woman and the woman behind the pub counter were both nice. Breakfast was good, though they ran out of coffee, and the coffee pods in the room weren’t great. We could’ve used a few more towels, and there was no complimentary water or any in the vending machine. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, but that isn’t the hotel’s fault. For what we paid, I don’t think it was really worth it. We might’ve saved money by staying elsewhere and taking an Uber to the stadium, but we’re not very good at planning trips.

We were only here one night, August 13-14, for an event, but it turned into the worst travel experience I’ve had. My husband, sister, and I were put in basement room R26. The halls looked like some work was going on, though that didn’t seem like a big deal. We checked the mattresses when we arrived and didn’t see anything, so thought we were fine. Later, my sister spotted a bug on her blanket. It was a bed bug, and we found another on the other bed’s blanket. We trapped one in a bathroom cup while my husband went to the front desk, and we gathered our things and checked everything for bugs before leaving the room. They promptly moved us to another floor. My husband said the desk clerk was very polite. The new room was smaller, and one blanket looked like it had pizza sauce on it, but we were relieved to be away from the bugs. We didn’t use the blankets, and messed them up in the morning so staff would know they needed washing. We spent hours anxiously checking our belongings and couldn’t sleep until after 3 a.m. At breakfast, near closing time, a worker was loudly yelling at a cook the whole time we were there. We could hear her putting him down in the back, then she came out and apologized for the wait by saying the cook “doesn’t know what he is doing.” While setting up the stations, she was on the phone again complaining about him and being disrespectful. I work in the service industry and know it can get frustrating, but people shouldn’t be screamed at or treated like they’re stupid and worthless. We asked the front desk about a small refund because we’d been moved to a smaller room. They said we’d need to call later when the manager was there. When we did, we were told nobody had reported the incident, that we hadn’t changed rooms, and that nothing could be done. I’ve learned to get names if anything like this happens again. The whole thing was a headache. The location is decent for events, and there’s a Taco Bell nearby, but I promise it isn’t worth it.

Nana was so friendly, and the staff were great. My husband, our two little ones, and I absolutely loved staying here. Breakfast was good and warm, with more food coming out regularly. It’s only about 10 minutes from Tmoblie center, and we’ll stay here again next time we’re in town.

The bathroom lighting was great for doing makeup, and the room itself was clean and nice. My friend and I stayed when nothing was going on at the nearby stadiums, so the price was good. Everyone on staff was super friendly, and the breakfast was the best I’ve had at a hotel. We had a great stay and will keep Best Western in mind for the future.
