Cascade Hotel, Kansas City, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Our daughter was admitted through the ER at St Luke’s on the plaza on Christmas night, so my husband and I walked into Cascade hotel at 4am looking for somewhere to stay. We had been meant to celebrate our 34th anniversary in Marco island Florida. The staff met us with so much compassion and care, and kept showing it during our six-night stay. We added a day at a time, hoping our daughter might be able to go home. For our anniversary, the staff even sent a care package to our room. We ate takeout from Kona grill there after a rough, exhausting day at the hospital. Today our daughter gets to go home, and we were able to spend so much time with her while she was there. The staff are amazing. The hotel is stunning and clean, with beautiful Christmas decorations, jazz playing, good parking, and a strong sense of security. I couldn't recommend it more. I wish I had taken more lobby photos, but we were distracted. Here's the view from the 9th floor, room 960.

The beautiful lobby and bar area, along with the very clean and comfortable room, made for a fantastic stay. The front desk women were so sweet and helpful. We could easily walk to all the stores and restaurants we wanted to visit in the Plaza. I also loved a small but useful touch: water taps beside the ice machines. At most hotels, finding water after getting ice is a pain. I'd absolutely recommend this hotel.

Coffee downstairs is trendy and delicious, and the large guest rooms feel relaxing, with separate areas for work and unwinding. The hotel is grand, modern, and comfortable, set in the South-Central area and very walkable within Country Club Plaza. It feels like a tribute to the KC Indie spirit. A lovely way to start the day, whatever brings you to town.

For a weekend away near the Plaza, Cascade was a great choice. We spent a lot of our time walking around, and the location couldn't have suited us better. The rooms were smaller than we expected but had everything we needed, and the hotel was very clean. The lobby was stunning, and we enjoyed the live jazz on Saturday night. I also went to the spa, which was luxurious, clean, and incredibly relaxing, just what you'd want from a hotel spa. Drinks at the hotel bar were our only complaint, they felt a bit too expensive.
