I was here for three days on a business trip for a training course my employer sent me to. The stay itself wasn’t especially good or bad. On the three-hour drive home, though, my abdomen and back started itching. By the time I got home there were small red marks on my abdomen, and my wife spotted a few on my back. Within 24 hours, the itching turned to burning and pain, and the spots became welts. The photos speak for themselves. I called the hotel the next day and was told they hadn’t found anything in the room. Six days later, I still can’t take a hot shower. Look at the pictures and decide for yourself. I won’t stay here again.

The sign by the entrance apologizes for hot water problems, which was the main concern I saw in the reviews, but I had hot water every time I showered. The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and my room was clean apart from a small bit of plaster on the shower wall. That didn’t bother me. I’d been a little nervous after reading the reviews, but my weekend in the city went well and was a good experience.

The morning shift ladies were great, friendly, and tried to make things right. They gave me some extra points. But my first room had no hot water, and the next one had no power. They got the power working, then basically said it was my fault for not reading the check-in sign warning that hot water might be unavailable. They said I wouldn’t be charged extra for moving from a king room to a room with two queen beds, since that was all they had. Breakfast costs extra, and there was a foul odor throughout the hotel.

When I arrived for the correct night, Mallory at the front desk recognized that I’d tried to cancel my earlier reservation. She canceled it in her system, then spent nearly half an hour calling Super.com on my behalf and advocating for me until they refunded the mistaken booking. I was surprised and impressed by how much she helped. The hotel itself was great too, with clean rooms, good amenities, and outstanding service. I’ll book here again next time I’m in North Kansas City. I’d originally booked through Super.com but selected the wrong date by mistake. I called them three times and spent hours trying to fix it, but they refused to cancel under their policy and showed no sympathy. I thought I’d lost my money, so I made a new reservation for the right night.
