The Raphael Hotel, Autograph Collection

The Raphael has completely changed what I expect from hotel service. The restaurant and every part of the hotel have been great, and when I compare it with other high value hotels nearby, they’ve always left me disappointed. It’s hands down the best place in KC. I’d move worlds to stay here whenever I come to KC. I visit for work, though not often, and the front lobby team remembers me every time, even when I come down from the elevator days later. I’m sad to be changing jobs because I won’t be staying here as much. Thank you.

The Raphael has a cute, regal look and still feels welcoming. Service made the stay feel special from the start, and I really enjoyed it. Because of my Titanium status, I was upgraded to a suite. Someone then brought a bottle of wine and snacks, and later that night another person stopped by with small chocolates. There was live jazz in the restaurant and bar on site, and it was really good.

I spent November 1-3, 2025 at The Raphael Hotel, the weekend after my birthday, and had a wonderful visit from check-in through checkout. My first room was a standard room overlooking the Plaza, but the TV and telephone had minor problems. I went to the front desk, and they moved me right away without hesitation or questions, into a suite. Such a nice surprise. The bed was very comfortable, and the water had just the right temperature and pressure. I enjoyed winding down late at night with movies and cauliflower pizza from Martin City Brewery, just a couple of blocks away. I highly recommend The Raphael Hotel for a great stay on the Plaza.

I had a very disappointing experience at this property last Monday. The front desk interaction felt discourteous and unprofessional, which is a poor first impression for any guest. I canceled my reservation for one of their best rooms that same day and received a full refund. I wouldn’t recommend this property to others. For a stay that feels truly exceptional, I’d strongly suggest The Fontaine Hotel. It’s modern, clean, fresh, inviting, and smells great, without an old, dusty feel. The amenities are top-notch, including Tesla chargers for EV drivers. The service and overall experience are night and day.
