Built in the 1930's, this 20-story luxury hotel, a national landmark, continues to exude all the elegance of the period with modern amenities. Many of the original details remain, including the walnut paneling, intricate metalwork, 20-story mail chute, Art Deco light fixtures and a gilded winged statue of the goddess Dawn.
The 216 rooms are cozy, characteristic of a historic hotel, and comfortable, with modern amenities such as complimentary WiFi, multiple charging outlets, flat screen TVs, plump duvets, high-end linens, C.O Bigelow bath products and Keurig coffee.
The hotel's highly celebrated restaurant, Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, serves chef driven breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, happy hour, and weekend brunch. Guests enjoy artisanal coffee and pastries from the hotel's stylish coffee shop, Kilo Charlie, and sneak down to the 1930's inspired speakeasy bar, P.S., through the hidden entrance near the front desk for craft cocktails and small bites.

The two-queen room was newly renovated, smelled amazing, and had plenty of space between the beds, which I appreciated. I was here for one night for a concert, and the location was convenient and quiet. Valet cost $42 per day. I didn't get to try the speakeasy, though I heard it's a must while staying here. I also ate at Tavernonna inside the hotel. The salmon piccata was good, but the staff, especially the bartender, were the downside.

The restaurant was supposed to stay open until 10:00p.m, so I went down to eat at 9 and found it closed. An employee said they hadn't had many orders. Because of the cold, I couldn't go elsewhere and went to bed without food. Another day, I returned to find the fire alarm going off and firefighters in the hallway. There had been a small fire alarm in the kitchen or something, and I had to wait in the lobby for a while before going back to my room. Thankfully, everyone was safe. The hotel is a very nice historic building, almost 100 years old in 2030, with a wood-filled, old-fashioned design and atmosphere. I enjoyed the stay and chatting with employees. My room was neat and clean, but the shower door wouldn't open and close properly.

I enjoyed staying in this beautiful historic hotel. The conference block rate made it affordable, and I got a fun surprise when they upgraded me to a corner room. The large claw tub was lovely, everything was clean, and I felt secure. Staff were helpful and friendly. The building's age means small rooms and limited amenities, as the website makes clear, but for a solo conference trip where I just needed somewhere to relax and sleep, it was ideal. The elevators are tiny, and on busy mornings the wait for an empty one was long. That was harder because I was on a high floor and couldn't really manage the stairs.

Hotel Phillips has a special place in our hearts. We first stayed here for our wedding weekend 2.5 years ago, and the staff still remember us and make us feel special. This weekend they recognized our name and left a welcome gift. Vanity was so kind and hospitable, and Edmund was very sweet when he checked us in. We even took our wedding photos around the hotel and speakeasy. We did the Le Petit Chef dinner experience, then stopped at the speakeasy for a drink. Megan with Le Petit Chef was attentive, energetic, and awesome. The food was delicious, and the whole experience was so fun. We’ll be back again and again for the wonderful service.

It was a great experience. I went with my church as part of a youth group trip, and it was one of the best stays I've had in a while. The food was great, and I could walk to all the places I wanted to see. The lobby smells awesome, and the staff are so nice. 10-10 recommend.
