Kansas City Airport Marriott

The business should honor what it promised. We were told I could get a free weekend after our stay, but when I called back as instructed, they refused and offered points instead, though I’m not a member. During our 2024 visit, the toilet whined all Friday night. I reported it Friday morning before we went out, but when we came back Saturday evening it was still loud. I reported it again, hoping to avoid another night of it, and was told maintenance had gone for the day. I explained the whole situation at checkout Sunday and was told leadership would contact me Monday. They did call and promised the free weekend. I explained we rarely visit that area and might not return for over a year. They said they’d put my name on some kind of list and I could call back to have the offer honored. When we were back in the area, I called as instructed, but they wouldn’t honor it.

The location is handy for the airport, though a bit far from other amenities. I had an amazing experience, especially because of how thoughtful the staff are. Mai made breakfast feel special; she clearly cares about her work and the people she serves. Housekeeping was wonderful too. I travel with a teddy bear and usually put him away when I know they’re coming, but I forgot. They made the bed and placed him sitting upright in the middle. Such a cute detail. I love the care the staff put into things.

For an airport hotel, it was pretty good. The staff were friendly, and the rooms are nicer than the exterior makes you expect. The food was mediocre, and as far as I know there aren’t other options nearby. The bathroom was disappointing. The sliding barn door gives no privacy, and a pocket door that fully closes would have made much more sense. The shower ceiling is 6 feet 4 inches high. I’m 6'2 and my head was only 2 inches from it. I’m here with my daughter’s volleyball team in a block of rooms, and lots of the volleyball dads are over 6'4, so they wouldn’t fit in that shower.

We stay here 4 to 5 times a year to see family and friends, and wouldn’t consider booking somewhere else. The staff care about you, the service is superb, and the lake view is always pretty. The food and bar are consistently good, and the “M” club feels so welcoming. Chris the bartender is attentive and welcoming, and makes amazing drinks.
