The rooms are huge, and the place was really nice. Getting to the lobby for breakfast was confusing from our separate building because there weren’t signs to guide us. Our keycard also worked only when it felt like it, and the shower took at least 20 minutes for the water to get warm. Even with those annoyances, I’d recommend it to pretty much anyone wanting a spacious, comfortable room away from the bustle of KC, while still close enough that driving around isn’t a hassle.

We picked this hotel because it’s just a couple blocks from where my elderly mother lives. The bed was comfortable, but the room had neither a fridge nor a microwave, and we had to let the water run for 10 minutes before it even got warm. The breakfast attendant was the one bright spot among the staff. She was delightful, though the breakfast itself wasn’t very good. The front desk experience was painful. The people we dealt with weren’t welcoming or customer-friendly. Our room phone didn’t work, so I had to walk down to report an issue, only to meet someone sleepy and disinterested, as if they couldn’t believe I was asking them to work. I’d pay more and drive farther to avoid that experience.

I can’t recommend this hotel anymore. It used to have great customer service, but now you can’t reach anyone when there’s a problem. They leave you on hold, and there’s never a manager available. The rooms have also gotten less clean. A friend stayed here with his wife and kids, and they were given just one face cloth and two bath towels for all four of them. When they asked for more, they were told there wouldn’t be clean linen for two days. We’ve been calling since Sunday, but no one can find a manager or arrange compensation for the room.

I’m glad I didn’t let the ratings put me off. The place is extremely clean and nice, and I was surprised as soon as I walked in. The lobby looks better than any Hilton or Holiday Inn, or the other places I stay at all the time. The bedding, thick carpet, clean tub, and modern feel all impressed me. It definitely deserves five stars.
