Extended Stay America Suites - Kansas City - Country Club Plaza

The location is the one thing this place has going for it. Our kitchen was much dingier than we expected, the TV remote didn't work, and the toilet was faulty. Jordan, a team member, said we could get a room with a working toilet if we were staying more than one night. We were going to return Monday night, but we've decided to cancel. Customer service is trash.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The staff are rude and arrogant, and the service has been horrible. We watched an employee come back from a nap while guests waited for her to finish sleeping. Then they charged us for the time we were kept waiting in the lobby and wouldn't address the issue. There were other properties calling, and the phone definitely wasn't dead, so check with the service provider. How can you trust them with your credit card when you can't trust them to have a competent employee? Anything could have happened. I'll keep leaving a review every day until these untrained employees are trained.

The room was clean, and the kitchenette had lots of counter space. The staff were kind to us, especially the amazing woman at the front desk. We brought our two little dogs and had no problems. Road construction made it a bit tricky to reach the property, but we managed. We left the Quality in down the road because the staff there were so rude. Next time we're in town, we'll stay at Extended Stay America again.

The staff were very nice, and that was the only good part of our stay. The hotel itself was rough. Our supposed non-smoking room smelled like an ashtray, and the whole third floor reeked of smoke. The faucet kept running, and the carpet felt damp. At midnight our key cards wouldn't get us into the building, so we waited in the parking lot for 15 minutes until someone happened to come out and let us in. We even had to wash clothes we hadn't worn because they smelled of smoke. I hate giving one star, but this stay was awful.
