I stayed here for a few days to fish the Kern, and the area delivered. From the lodge, it's just a few steps down to the riverbank with your gear. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower hot, and the kitchenette handy. It had fishing decor, a nice touch for anglers, and there's a fish-cleaning station on the property. Jeremiah, who oversees the place, was friendly and helpful. A small general store and cafe right across the street was convenient, and the price was very reasonable. The lodge is well placed for fishing the upper Kern, from Lake Isabella to the Johnsondale bridge, the “20 mile stretch.” There are lots of places to pull off the road and cast a line. Kernville itself is a short 5-10 minute drive away, a small, charming town. I'd gladly stay here again. Thanks, Jeremiah. It was nice meeting you, and I'm glad I could bring a couple of fish back for you and your family. Hope they were delicious. See you on my next trip!

We could hear traffic from the highway, especially motorcycles, since it's very close. Kernsville, a small town, is a couple of miles away. We also hiked to Lake Isabella Point, about 16 minutes south. It was an easy 1.5-mile hike, 3 miles out and back. The location is beautiful, with stairs down to a sandy spot by the river and rocks to navigate if you go north or south along the Kern. We stayed in a room near the office, where alarms and other sounds carried through the old construction. The bathrooms really weren't clean. It seemed expensive for the room, though it was cheap compared with other places in the area.

We loved having a kitchenette in the room and a propane grill in the common area, so we could cook at home throughout our stay. There’s also a path down to the river, and the view from our room was beautiful. The owners were so kind. We’d definitely stay here again.

After a long day on the road, I pulled off near the forest and stopped at Sequoia Lodge. Robin and Jeremiah welcomed me warmly, and Robin was so generous she even shared some of the hot dinner she’d made for her family. Their kindness made the stay special. I’ll definitely return with my family. They’re wonderful people!

Jeremiah and his wife really touched our lives during our August 2025 stay. They made my son, who recently became paraplegic and blind, feel like part of the family, and gave us great suggestions for places to visit that added so much to the trip. From check-in through checkout, everything was handled with care and professionalism. I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional hospitality. After we got home, I realized I’d left behind a blanket that meant a lot to my son. I called to ask about it, and they still had it. Mailing it back was such a thoughtful gesture. Thank you both for making the stay so memorable.
