The Southernmost Inn - Adults Only

The location is excellent, just a few yards from Duvall Street and the Southermost Point. There are two pools, a hot tub, a good breakfast selection, and a Starbucks coffee machine available 24 hours. Parking on site is limited to six cars and costs $30 a night. The rooms are fairly basic for the price, and quality varies, as others have mentioned. Our poolside room on the second night was much better than the first one. The main problem for me was reception. I’ve never felt less welcome at a hotel, even after years of traveling. The person at the desk seemed to take pleasure in being rude and objectionable. If that’s the kind of treatment you enjoy, I’d recommend this hotel.

We had no problems with the room or bathroom, and it was clean and well kept. We asked for extra towels and got them in about 10 minutes. The rooms were just the right size for us since we weren’t in Key West to sit indoors all day. Happy hour with wine and cheese was nice, and the outdoor spaces were peaceful. We didn’t swim, though the pools looked lovely. Breakfast could use more protein. The inn gave us a great bike rental referral, and Frenchie's restaurant next door is not to be missed. It’s easy to walk everywhere from here, and we’ll definitely stay again.

The tiny room alone made the price hard to accept: $300 a night plus a $40 hotel amenity fee, for a space smaller than a laundry room. We kept hitting the bed frame as we moved around, and there was hardly room for luggage or clothes. The flooring was lifting, with a large crack that could cut your foot. The nightstands wobbled, and the bathroom door barely cleared the toilet. You had to sit sideways to avoid the wall and toilet paper holder. The bathroom floor needed a good cleaning, and the shower was no more than 2’x2’. Its head was positioned so awkwardly you had to stand sideways to use it. Breakfast was a joke: hard-boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles, cereal, and fruit salad that looked past its best. The woman at check-in was as unfriendly as could be. Checkout was just as unpleasant, with a different person from yesterday. If I hadn’t already paid, I would’ve left after that first reception. This was one of the worst bed and breakfast inns I’ve stayed in. I’d only suggest it to someone who plans to stay drunk and doesn’t care about the room or cost. I’d strongly recommend avoiding the Southern Most Inn. My husband has incarcerated people in cells with better amenities.

We spent over $2,000 for four nights, and the room’s condition was unacceptable for that price. The mini fridge smelled strongly of fish throughout the stay, so we couldn’t use it. The blinds wouldn’t open or close properly, which meant no real privacy or control over the light. There was visible black mold in the bathroom, broken dresser drawers that wouldn’t open or stay on track, and rusty light fixtures that looked unmaintained for years. The room also felt dirty and poorly kept. I expected basic cleanliness and working amenities for what we paid. This was one of my worst hotel experiences, and I rarely leave a negative review. It was a huge disappointment and not worth the money. I wouldn’t stay here again.
