Quality Inn Merchants Drive

After 1:00am, my husband woke me to say cockroaches were all over the bathroom and we needed to get our things out. We gathered our belongings and let the children sleep while we waited until 4:00am to leave. When I checked out, I told the clerk I had photos and videos. She said I needed to contact the third party I booked through for compensation and that she'd tell management. Her tone made it sound like the roach problem wasn't a surprise. The third party later said the hotel wouldn't authorize a refund, claiming management had sent pest control and found nothing. I'm a full-time property management assistant in Arkansas and know how serious an infestation is and how fast it can spread. I'd like compensation, but if I can't get it, I want people to know. I have photos and a video from that morning if needed. We arrived on 10/2/2025 for one night in a double room. I wasn't expecting top-tier quality, but there were obvious cosmetic issues, plus a gaping hole in the ceiling above the breakfast area. The mattresses looked new, but the covers weren't sealed or fitted properly to prevent bedbugs. I checked and saw no signs of those.

Just after 9:00am, workers started using what sounded and looked like a gas-powered machine to grind the top surface off the sidewalks right outside my room. I had arrived late and hoped to sleep in, so that was impossible. Why couldn't they wait until the 11:00 checkout time? Now I'm driving tired and extremely irritated. I'm pissed, and this has me reconsidering a lot of life choices, Choice Hotels in particular. Before that, it had seemed like a good stay. The front desk woman was pleasant, concise, and efficient. The room was much nicer than I expected for the price, with comfortable thick pillows and bed, and furniture in good shape. I arrived late and was looking forward to sleeping in.

I was about to leave an okay review. The rooms were a little dated, but at least clean. Then at 9am I woke up to a housekeeper opening the door without knocking, as though I had already checked out. I understand wanting to start early, but if the office hasn't confirmed checkout, wait until the required time and freaking knock. FOH.

The hotel was in a convenient spot near lots of restaurants, and breakfast was a decent continental spread. We checked in a little late during a road trip, and the clean, comfortable room made it a good place to stop for the night. We had a good stay at Quality Inn Knoxville.
