Relax Inn Motel

I was here to hike in Big Thicket, and the highway noise was a nuisance, though that’s not the property’s fault. Watching sunrise from the cushioned chairs outside was a treat. Inside, I liked the character of the bedding and curtains, the sink outside the bathroom, and the extra counter space. There’s a refrigerator, microwave, and a TV bigger than I’d expect at a place this size, plus morning coffee. The Christmas decorations were a nice seasonal touch, and the reminder to save energy by shutting the door and turning off lights was appreciated. Hospitality industry waste is painful to see. It’s a cozy little place with lots of amenities for a great price.

Right off 69 and close to most of the restaurants around here, so it works well for budget travel. It’s not a fancy hotel, but it’s clean and safe, everything works, and the HVAC is great. Keep your expectations realistic and it’s a good place to stay.

For an older little motel in a small town, it gave me everything I’d expect to pay much more for elsewhere. The staff were really friendly, and the room was spotless and laid out well. Traveling alone as an older woman, I appreciated being put close to the office in a well-lit spot. That was thoughtful and reassuring. I usually stay in the next bigger town when I pass through, but this trip came up unexpectedly and I booked here at the last minute. I’ll stay here from now on.

I haven’t stayed there myself, but a relative just paid for a week. They charge by the day or week, and a basic room with one bed, fridge, microwave, sink, and restroom costs $355 a week. The one room I saw had no closet. Parking is limited, and the place sits right by the highway.
