We only needed somewhere to sleep while we were in town for the International Festival, and this family-run Days Inn was a pleasant surprise. I’ve traveled plenty, from one-star places to five-star hotels, and this little spot was cleaner and nicer than some fancy downtown Nashville hotels I’ve stayed in. The area felt safe, the hallways were clean and locked, and the service was good. No complaints from me, and I’d come back. The room had firm, apparently brand-new mattresses, good pillows, a large dorm-style fridge with a small freezer, a microwave, and in-room coffee, none of which I saw on the hotels.com listing. There were lots of chargers and USB plugs by the bed, no annoying lamps, and the air conditioner got as cold as you wanted, which is welcome in Louisiana. No carpet, either. Breakfast was continental but had fresh bananas, good coffee with plenty of cream, tea, muffins, juice, and cereal. The only catch is that there’s no elevator to the second floor, though they offered to carry our bags. I’m adding some photos that weren’t on the listing.
I wish I could give this zero stars. The hotel was filthy, and the room photos show what it’s really like. Even though the rooms were supposed to be non-smoking, both polyester comforters had big burn holes. There was a spider in one of the beds. When I asked for a refund, the hotel refused, saying I hadn’t notified them after I found the spider.
We arrived Friday with my wife and three kids expecting the two-bed room we had rented, but they gave us a room with just one bed. They said no other two-bed room was available, so I ended up sleeping in the car with my son. The next day they gave us a room with two beds, then wanted to charge another $200 even though we had already paid. Be careful, people. I don’t recommend this place. There were cockroaches in the rooms, and I wasn’t the only one who had problems. Other people have had issues there too.
The room mix-up was bad enough, but the front desk made the whole stay worse. I asked three times whether a first-floor room was available and was told no. Later I found out that wasn’t true, and when I asked for that room, the clerk said no and gave it to someone else. I was put upstairs, away from my coworkers and surrounded by men. The front desk person seemed confused and not very smart. The hotel was dirty, hot, and smelled bad, and the toilets looked disgusting. It also looked like a place where people get trafficked. Worst hotel experience. Never again.
Congratulations, you’ve found a hotel that allows fraud. One of their “guests” used my information to book a room. When I called, they said, “well we can’t help you, call the police or something.” That was completely unprofessional. I hope whoever Kwasi O’Neal is gets their life together.
