The hostel staff were always polite and helpful, with a smile. I had one of my best barbecues there on New year's Eve, and met lots of funny people. They also offered great free tours in exchange for tips for the driver. The road to Hana was epic, and I went surfing and snorkeling too. I love this place.
If you need an inexpensive place to stay, this isn’t bad at all. I took off two stars because it wasn’t quite as clean as some other hostels I’ve stayed in, though it wasn’t dirty and was manageable. I also like the social side of hostels, but here guests have to leave the common area after 10 PM because of complaints. My other issue was the manager, Martin, who was quite rude. After my friend and I went skydiving, we couldn’t read the photos CD on my computer. Staff agreed to let us use their computer for 5-10 minutes to transfer the photos to my SD card. Martin came in shortly afterward and told my friend to stop and find a library. Those are the three things I wanted to mention, based on my stays at other hostels.
The staff were really nice and helpful, suggesting lots of places to see and activities to try, including free things to do. We didn’t stay here, but from what I saw, it’s a very small place meant mainly for sleeping while you visit the island. If I were traveling alone, I wouldn’t mind staying here.
The atmosphere and location are awesome. Just be aware that the rooms have a shared bathroom, in case that would bother you.
